This is the most anti-climactic announcement ever, but in the off chance that you follow me through a blog reader and don't visit my blog too often, I wanted to announce that I've launched my new design! Several of you have noticed already (thanks, friends!) but I thought I'd make a formal announcement. As with everything I design for myself, I can't call it 100% done because I'm always tweaking and adjusting the pieces. But overall, I think I achieved what I was going for-- a cleaner, more streamlined look that better reflects my natural and relaxed style, with just a touch of a handmade feel.
Some noteables with my new design:
1. Bigger photos! If I have time, I'm going to go back and adjust previous posts, but from here on out the photos will be gloriously big and more of a feature now that the design is less cluttered
2. A new blog subtitle that better reflects the content of my blog
3. Links in the sidebar that lead to an archive of recipes and craft/art projects, as well as a link to my Etsy and design portfolio {which is currently housed on Flickr, but will be given a more professional platform when the time is right}
4. A "Featured Artist" section which will be updated bi-monthly-- I'm currently spotlighting Sadie Designs, who we'll be hearing more from very soon!
5. Lastly, since I have a new subtitle, I've dropped the use of Caitidid Designs on my blog. In a nutshell, I feel my blog is-- and has always been-- a separate entity from my Etsy shop and freelance work. The purpose of my blog is to foster and celebrate creativity and build community with other creative folk, not a vehicle to sell wedding invitations or design services. While my Etsy shop isn't going anywhere, I wanted to reserve "Caitidid Designs" for my design work and just be *me* on my blog.
And, as always, if you notice anything wonky or hideous, or just have a general suggestion about my blog layout or content, please let me know.
Enough blog business-talk! One thing I love about November is the beauty of the golden light as it fades into the grey of winter. Here are a few of my recent Etsy favorites that remind me of warm light and cool air.

1. Casual Scarf in Honey Mustard by OhLeanderShop, $50
2. 2012 12-Month Calendar by leahduncan, $32
3. Butterflies Giclee Print by onelittlebirdstudio, $30.30 USD
4. Golden Felted Pebbles Gift Set by delica, $36
What's your favorite part of November? I have to say, I think my favorite part (aside from the "calm before the storm" feeling I mentioned in my intentions post) would be Thanksgiving stuffing/dressing. What can I say, I'm a sucker for carbs :)

Caiti,
ReplyDeleteIt looks fantastic! I love the bigger photos and the new sibebar features. Good job friend, it's lovely!

I love Fall because we get to wear neutrals and just warm colors for the season. I love the picture of the scarf you put up. It's so awesome. It's motivating me to make one :D
ReplyDeleteHey friend - I haven't posted in a while, but I've been following along ;) Love the new design - very light and calm. And I LOVE what you said about the golden light fading into grey in November! I was just thinking a similar thought on my drive home tonight. So often I've thought November isn't a pretty month - no longer. Need to celebrate that it's my birth month and the month of my favorite holiday - Thanksgiving! All months are pretty in their own ways.
